The Jamo-Led Students' Union Government (SUG), University of Abuja, proudly joins the entire University community in congratulating Comrade Eyamu Nyerovwo Peculiar, popularly known as "Everything Peculiar," on her historic election as the President-Elect of the Students' Union Government for the 2025/2026 Academic Session in University of Abuja
This victory is not merely an electoral success; it represents a defining moment in the history of the University of Abuja.
For the first time since the establishment of the institution and the creation of its Students' Union Government, the student body has elected a female President to lead the affairs of the Union.
This remarkable achievement stands as a powerful testament to the University's commitment to inclusiveness, equal opportunity, progressive leadership, and democratic maturity.
Her emergence sends a clear message that leadership is founded upon competence, vision, character, service, and the confidence of the electorate not gender. It reflects the willingness of UniAbuja students to embrace a new chapter where excellence, capacity, and commitment remain the defining qualities of leadership.
The Jamo Led administration recognizes that this historic mandate carries both honour and enormous responsibility.
The Office of the President remains the highest executive office within the Students' Union Government, entrusted with protecting the interests of thousands of students, engaging constructively with the University Management, coordinating the activities of the Executive Council, promoting students' welfare, and providing visionary leadership capable of advancing the aspirations of the entire student community.
As the first female occupant of this prestigious office, President-Elect Eyamu Nyerovwo Peculiar now occupies a unique place in the University's history. Her election will undoubtedly inspire generations of female students to actively participate in student leadership and public service while demonstrating that barriers can be broken through resilience, determination, and the confidence of the electorate.
History often remembers those who dare to become the first. However, history judges them not only by how they emerged but also by how they served. The responsibility before the President-Elect extends beyond making history, it is the responsibility of setting a standard that future administrations, regardless of gender, will seek to emulate.
The Jamo-Led Administration therefore encourages the President-Elect to remain committed to the principles of accountability, transparency, inclusiveness, humility, dialogue, and service. The confidence entrusted to her by thousands of students should continually serve as a reminder that leadership is fundamentally a responsibility to serve rather than a privilege to command.
We are optimistic that under her leadership, the Students' Union Government will continue to champion academic excellence, improved welfare, infrastructural advocacy, student empowerment, campus security, peaceful coexistence, and constructive engagement with the University Administration.
As one administration prepares to conclude its tenure after serving diligently according to its mandate, we express confidence that the incoming administration will build upon existing foundations while introducing innovative ideas capable of further strengthening the Students' Union Government and enhancing the overall student experience.
The outgoing administration equally extends appreciation to all presidential candidates who participated in the election. Democracy flourishes where ideas compete peacefully, and every candidate contributed significantly to enriching the electoral process through issue-based campaigns and constructive engagement.
Finally, on behalf of the entire Jamo-Led Students' Union Government, we once again extend our warmest congratulations to Comrade Eyamu Nyerovwo Peculiar on this extraordinary and historic achievement.
May your tenure be remembered for purposeful leadership, transformational governance, enduring legacies, and unwavering commitment to the welfare and progress of every University of Abuja student.
Congratulations, Madam President-Elect.
