DECLARATION OF INTEREST*

To the good students of the University of Abuja, I come out today not merely as a candidate but as one of you, a student who has walked in the halls, sat in the classrooms, and shared in both the triumphs and frustrations of student life at this great institution. It is with deep conviction, unwavering commitment, and profound humility that I, Dahiru Babba Abubakar, a 500L student of the College of Health Sciences, formally declare my intention to contest for the office of president of the University of Abuja Students Union Government.

I am running because every student matters and every voice counts. Many of our colleagues navigate their academic journey without adequate support, without representation, and without leadership that truly listens. I have seen the gaps in student welfare, in academic support systems, and in the quality of services we deserve. I refuse to look away. A students' union government must be more than a ceremonial body. It must be a democratic force that is accountable to students, driven by students, and delivering real results for students.

If elected, I will establish welfare structures that ensure no student suffers in silence. and inclusive governance where various associations' leaders and every single student feel carried along. I will advocate for better lecture facilities, uninterrupted academic calendars, and direct student input in academic policy because quality education is not a privilege; it is your right. I will run a transparent administration where every kobo of student funds is fully accounted for. I will push for better transportation, hostel conditions, health center services, and campus life. And I will build a union that leaves no one behind; every voice will count.

This is not about me. This is about us. It is about the student who lives in an uncomfortable hostel. The student whose result has been delayed. The student who spoke up and was never heard. I am running for that student. I am running for you.

The challenges ahead will not stop us. What stands the way becomes the way. With confidence in the students of this great university, I ask for your support, your trust, and your vote, and I make you this promise: you will never regret choosing a leader who chose you first.
